Hype, a WordPress portfolio theme with Zillacommerce functionality

Introducing Hype—now with Zillacommerce

WordPress can do just about anything. Want to build a landing page? It’s got you covered. Scheduling system? No sweat. How about a full-blown ecommerce store?

… Sure?

Until now, if you’ve wanted to add ecommerce to your WordPress site, you had to use a plugin. Of course, plugins can be great for simple things like SEO and post scheduling, but when it comes to more complex functionality, they can be a huge pain. From clashing designs to constant updates to security vulnerabilities, there’s no plugin that provides an ideal ecommerce experience.

That’s why we’re so excited to unveil Zillacommerce, the world’s first integrated solution for selling online with WordPress and Shopify. Now, WordPress users can use Shopify’s beginner-friendly, state-of-the-art ecommerce functionality without giving up everything they know and love about WordPress. No plugins, no hassle, just super-awesome ecommerce functionality, baked right into your theme.

To show you what Zillacommerce can do, we’re giving away Themezilla’s first ecommerce-enabled theme, Hype, free for the next 30 days. With its handsome hero area, grid-style homepage layout, and tons of customization options, Hype has everything you need to showcase—and sell—your work.

We want your feedback, so let us know what you think of Hype, as well as how you’d like to see ecommerce integrated into our existing and future themes!

Hey. I’ve downloaded and installed Hype and start to play with it. Well i wanted to play with it in fact, so i made a child theme with a ‘one click’ plugin, but i don’t know my child css aren’t over ridding the main style.css. I know your not providing support for a free theme but it’s a bit confusing anyway.

Despite that the theme seems great… when i’ll find where i can replace the logo for exemple. Well no support is no support i guess but… access to the How to PDF would have been great.

Hey Alex! Glad you like Hype! Even though it’s a free theme, we’re still offering support for it, which you can access by emailing support@themezilla.com. You should have also received a zip file with the theme documentation, and here’s a bit more guidance on customizing the Buy Button on your site. http://www.themezilla.com/zillacommerce-support/ Hope that helps!

I’m using the theme and I have similar issues.

I implemented a child theme and nothing gets overwritten (php files and CSS). I was able to overwrite the CSS by enqueue the stylesheet using the code provided at the WordPress codex, but now, I can see that all CSS rules are doubling in Firebug.

Also, icons are not working for me on mobile, and Chrome (desktop). The theme did not came with a .po file. I was able to translate most of it using the WPML plugin but some strings where missing so I had to hard code my edits directly on the parent theme.

The download did not included any documentation and even though I posted the issue in the the support forums since Feb, 11 I never heard back.

Like Alex said, despite all that, Hype is a great theme and It made an awesome freebie. To bad it didn’t work perfectly out the box for me like other Themezilla themes I’ve purchased.

Sorry for the delay! I’ve passed your comments along to our support team and they should be responding shortly. In the mean time, here’s a link to the theme documentation. Good luck!

Sorry but i send a message to the support with no responses. I’m trying to get the documentation and i still don’t have it. I don’t know which email is used for the sending, i guess it’s the email from my twitter account. Seems that that dress doesn’t work and i can’t change it for some reasons. I’m afraid i’m in a loop here… Can you help ?

Hey Alex, you can add the your logo using the jet pack plugin.

Hi can I install any of the two demos of hype on my website? If yes, How?

    • Alanna February 19, 2016 Reply

Hey Andreas! If you purchased Hype a few weeks ago, you can use that version, or you can download the new version with Zillacommerce from the theme listing here. There’s a link to the theme documentation at the bottom of the page, so check that out and let us know if you run into any snags.

Hey I’ve installed the theme but my question is, is there a way to use the demo hype with the pictures and widgets setup, instead of an empty theme?

    • Alanna February 22, 2016 Reply

Hey Andreas! That’s a great question and idea. We’re going to work on putting together a package of content to accompany our themes – stay tuned!

The normal end e-commerce version is two different themes ? Means i will have to switch from the normal version to the e-commerce version later ?

    • Alanna February 22, 2016 Reply

Hey Alex! Right now, the only version of Hype that’s available for download on our site is the ecommerce-enabled one. We are offering the theme free for the next couple of weeks. If you purchased Hype before the ecommerce release, yes, you will have to switch, but this should be fairly simple as all of your content should transfer over. Hope that answers your question!

Hi can you help me with the our team section. I want to do it like the demo where it flips. In the about page you can see only the (Title for the “Our Team” section.)

    • Alanna March 10, 2016 Reply

Hey Andreas! I see what you mean about the “flip,” but I’m going to need a little more clarification about what you’re seeing and what you’re hoping to do with the About page. Please start a thread in the support forum and we’ll try to help you out ASAP!

I downloaded hype theme but I keep getting a 404 error when I activate it, any ideas?

    • Alanna March 14, 2016 Reply

That’s weird. Our team just tried it and isn’t having any issues. I’m about to email you the zip file, so give that another try and let us know if you’re still stuck.

Any text I add inside a portfolio post is also shown on the grid on my front/cover page.
I just want to have a few words at the front page and some paragraphs within the portfolio post after someone clicks on the button. How am I able to do this?

    • Alanna March 30, 2016 Reply

Hey Minos! You can absolutely do that by setting an excerpt for your portfolio post. When you’re in the post editor, just scroll down past Zilla Portfolio Settings and you’ll see a box labelled “Excerpt.” Add the text you want to display in the box on your front page and hit save. Let us know if you run into any other issues :)

PSA: As of Sept. 29, 2017, you can no longer purchase themes from this website. We will continue to provide limited support, including bug fixes and security updates, until March 31, 2018. Thank you for everything. We'll miss you dearly.
